Harvey's 3rd Birthday is on October 26 but I wanted to share what I have been working on these past few weeks for his party! Normally we would have family and friends coming over to celebrate, but this year we kept it to just a small family gathering given the times. We decided an outdoor s'more party would be appropriate. I setup this birthday table inside to take some pictures before the party started and will recreate it again outside. I found the perfect stamp set, S'more The Merrier, a collaboration between Lawn Fawn x Ellen Hutson, to tie in our forest friends theme. I used Lawn Fawn papers and dies along with my Tombow markers to create some fun cupcake toppers this year. Most of my supplies are from the amazing Canadian store, Papercrafter's Workshop!

Don't let this photo fool you - this is a culmination of 3 years of work! I have done a forest friends theme for each of Harvey's birthdays and each year I add something new. For his first birthday, I made the mountain photo banner; for his second birthday I made the wood slice birthday banner; for his third birthday I made the cupcake toppers. Over the years I have also grown a collection of wooden toys for Harvey to enjoy from some favourite shops including Timber Child and Forest & Wild in BC and Ava's Appletree in Ontario.

My Lawn Fawn supplies are something I have also built up over the years, thanks in large part to the Papercrafter's Workshop! The Into The Woods Remix and Let It Shine papers from Lawn Fawn are some of the supplies I added this year. To make the cupcake toppers, I started out with the Stitched Circle Tags dies that I had. I diecut them upside down so that I could fold the hole tab back to stick my skewer through. I adhered the wooden skewers to the back of these circles with washi tape so that I can hopefully use them again. I coloured up a bunch of forest friend critters from a variety of stamp sets (see my supply details at the bottom of this post) and had a lot of fun creating different scenes! I created some hillsides to ground my scenes using the Stitched Hillside Borders dies.

I found this great '3' candle from a local company out of Kaslo, BC called Honey Candles. This happens to be nearby our family cabin on Kootenay Lake so I thought it was fitting to have a candle from there.

I was inspired to put together this themed birthday table by the talented Lawn Fawn designer, Elena Roussakis, who has shared a few of the different themed parties she has put together using some cute Lawn Fawn supplies. Her recent party post last month utilized the cutest birch tree paper straws and I was so stoked to find some for our party, too!

It is important to me to have our parties be plastic-free and low waste as much as possible (though I definitely missed the mark with the cupcake wrappers this year - I try!). I use reusable glassware at any party that we have - often I use mason jars if we have a large amount of people. We use our regular reusable plates and cutlery, plus some plain white ceramic plates I have gathered over the years, and wooden bowls and plates for children. I also have some small stainless steel cups for kids too. Yes, occasionally the odd glass will break at a party, but the amount of garbage we avoid by not using disposables is huge and totally worth it! I typically also have a basket full of our reusable cloth napkins and tea towels readily available for guests to use during a party along with a laundry basket to place them in afterwards. Other times I have borrowed extra kitchen supplies from family and friends, and then washed and returned them afterwards. With a little organization beforehand, a low waste and plastic-free party is totally achievable!

I am very honoured and excited to be featured on the Papercrafter's Spotlight this week! Join me today on Facebook Live for a Q&A session at 10am MST :)
