Here is a baby card I made up for my husband's friend who just had a baby last month. I decided to go with a farm theme as they have many animals on their property. I am linking up with the Lawn Fawnatics challenge of favourite place or travel destination, which I figured fits nicely with the farm.

I knew I wanted a slimline card and started off making my barn. I loved the woodgrain panels that Lawn Fawn designer, Tammy Stark, created. I die cut a stitched square and inked some white woodgrain cardstock with Crackling Campfire and decided to cut it into 1/4" panels. I added some Black Soot distress oxide ink around the edges of each panel to weather them a bit. I used the frames from that die to make the roof of my barn and the smaller sized square and frame to make the barn door.

I made a slimline card base from the Scalloped Slimline with Hearts: Portrait die because I really liked the scalloped edges. I wanted to create a cloudy sky right on the base of my card but not over the scallops, so I masked it off with some washy tape. I ink blended my Cloudy stencil with Broken China distress oxide ink. After seeing some amazing Lawn Fawn baby cards made by Ashley Young, I decided that I really wanted to personalize this card and include the baby's name somehow. I decided on putting some white letters up in my sky to act as clouds to spell out the name 'Miles'. This name also happens to be my Dad's name, who also grew up on a farm - what a coincidence!

I coloured up all of the farm animals from the Hay There set but decided on only including the cow, horse, and goat along my hillside. I put the little rooster up on the top of the barn to add a little something more in my skyline.

Using the Meadow Borders to create my grassy hillside out of Knit Picky paper, I added in some tulips in a subtle plaid. I inked up my grass with some Rustic Wilderness distress oxide ink to make them pop a bit. I decided on the sentiment 'Hay There' from the set.

Paper: Solar White (Neenah); Knit Picky, Perfectly Plaid: Fall; Woodgrain (Lawn Fawn)
Ink: Black (CTMH); Black Soot, Broken China, Crackling Campfire, Rustic Wilderness distress oxide (Tim Holtz)
Stamps: Hay There (LF)
Dies: Hay There, Meadow Borders, Scalloped Slimline with Hearts: Portrait (LF); Stitched Square Frames (CTMH)
Stencils: Cloudy (LF)
Markers: N15, N75, N95, 761, 885, 969, 977, 990, 991 (Tombow)

  4. Had to come ck out your farm baby card after seeing it was a featured Lawn Fawn destination card. I really like how you put the barn together. I have the Hay There stamp/die and used in one creation with barn stamp but really want to give the barn you created a try. Do you have a video of how you made the barn?
