I was asked to make a custom sympathy card this week. The only requests were that it be plantable and have something robin's egg/Tiffany blue. I decided to pull out my hydrangeas from The Greetery that I had yet to play with!

I decided to use my new Salvaged Patina distress oxide ink for the base of the hydrangeas. I wanted to recreate the slightly green colour I saw in photos of hydrangeas, so I used a finger dauber to add in some Twisted Citron distress oxide ink. The detail layer of the hydrangeas was stamped with Chipped Sapphire. I stamped the main parts of my stems in Rustic Wilderness distress oxide and the background of the leaves in Twisted Citron to tie in the above colours.

It was tempting to just use die cuts to layer two hydrangea stems, but I really prefer making my plantable cards one single layer. I decided to create a mask for my first stem to be able to stamp the second on in the background. There is a slight gap, but overall, I was pretty happy with the results! I love how these hydrangeas turned out and cannot wait to use them on some more projects!

I am pretty happy to say that my cards are packaged plastic free when I sell them! Here is a look at how I wrapped this card up to deliver to my customer.

Paper: White Wildflower Seed mix (Botanical Paperworks)
Stamps: Budding Beauties - Summer, Cotton Comforts (The Greetery)
Ink: Black (CTMH); Chipped Sapphire Rustic Wilderness, Salvaged Patina, Twisted Citron distress oxide (Tim Holtz)
