I've got to say, there's no place I'd rather be than at the lake in the summertime. I have been spending as much time as possible at the lake this summer and on my new paddleboard! My grandparents have a summer cabin on Kootenay Lake and on one stormy morning, my aunt and I decided to can some green beans. You can get the recipe here.

I love using our chalkboard vinyl and chalk marker along with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to make cute labels for my canning. I picked up some funky fabric from the Sugar Town Quilt Company and found some pinking shears a few cabins down and set to work. Life is good at the lake!

Now come on over and check out the inspiration we have for you today at Heart2Heart. Hope to see you in the gallery!

I'll go to it laughing

I got this stamp set awhile ago and knew it would be perfect for my Dad's birthday card. I used one of the July Viva la Verve sketches and was able to test out one of my new dies from them too. I am also linking up to the sensational stripes Diva Inspirations challenge.
Paper - Taste of Summer patterned papers, White Daisy cardstock (CTMH); Ink - Black (CTMH);
Stamp set - Book Club (PTI); Die - Flourished Tag (Verve); Embellishments - Ribbon and twine (CTMH).

iced london fog

My new favourite drink of the summer! After having one of these in Nelson last week, I was bound and determined to make my own at home!

Using the glass carafe from David's Tea, I scooped two perfect spoons of Josephine Earl Grey tea from the John Ward Fine Coffee shop into the bottom. I boiled water and poured enough to soak the leaves and let them steep for a few minutes after swirling the water around. Next, I filled the carafe with cold water, added 3-4 pumps of Starbucks vanilla syrup and put the carafe in the fridge for a few hours. After, I used 3/4 cup Kootenay Meadows organic 1% milk along with 1/4 cup of the cooled tea. Add some ice cubes and voilà!

Retiring Colours at CTMH

Here is a card I whipped up before the wedding we went to yesterday using the Mojo Monday sketch.
Stamps - Bloom & Grow, Blessings (Verve); Dies - Floral Circles (Verve);
Paper - Pemberley patterned papers, Bamboo, Outdoor Denim, Indian Corn Blue (CTMH);
Ink - Outdoor Denim (CTMH).

This card showcases an oldie but a goodie retired paper collection (Pemberley), as well as some of my favourites of our upcoming retiring colours! Now with retirement of colours comes excitement at what is to come, but for now here is the list of colours you won't be seeing in our new idea book this fall:
Autumn Terracotta
Barn Red
Indian Corn Blue
Olive
Outdoor Denim
Ponderosa Pine
Smokey Plum

Contact me to get your supply of these great colours before they are gone!
I am pleased to say I will be staying on for another term designing at Heart2Heart! I have now been on this team for a year - wow! It is a busy time in our lives having just completed a move and looking forward to starting my Master's degree soon, but I love having something to motivate me to continue making time for crafting - it is a great release for sure!

Our challenge for you this week is to incorporate the theme of "Life is a Beach" into your project. Lots of inspiration for that in July, right! Here is a birthday card I made for my brother-in-law who loves enjoying a cold beverage on the beach in the summertime!

Most supplies are Close To My Heart:
Paper - Kraft, White Daisy, New England Ivy cardstock; Ink - New England Ivy, Canary, Sunset, Desert Sand;
Stamp sets - Happy Everything, Ice-Cold Summer; Embellishments - Clear Gumdrops (Your Next Embellie).

Come and join us at Heart2Heart!

You're the Bee's Knees

My new Verve came in the other day!! Here is my first card with it:
Stamps & Dies - The Buzz (Verve); Ink - Black (CTMH); Embossing Powder - Princess Gold (CTMH);
Papers - Black (CTMH); Curtain Call Collection (Graphic 45), Lost & Found Two (My Mind's Eye);
Ribbon - Black Striped Grosgrain (CTMH).

I just couldn't resist this saying. I used the sketch at Mojo Monday and used some "sensational stripes" for the Diva Inspirations Challenge over at Verve. I figure this plump little bumblebee would be furry in real life, so I am linking up to the "furry friends" challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

A very special little girl was supposed to be born today. I love her and miss her with all of my heart.

shall we unWINEd?

I've had this stamp for awhile now and this time I decided to try watercolour with it. I just love the sentiment and think it will be perfect for an anniversary card for my husband later this month! I loosely used the sketch at The Paper Players for this card.
Paper - La Belle Vie (CTMH); Ink - Tuxedo Black (Memento); Stamp - shall we unWINEd (Unity Stamps);
Embellishments - clear gumdrops (Your Next Embellie); twine.

Wine Not?

I love this basket of grapes...and this sentiment! I forgot to take a pic of the inside, but it says "Not?". I used the interesting sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and figure that the grapes can count as my "dots" for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "we're going dotty". Here's another Art Impressions watercolour image:

Stamps - Basket of Grapes (Art Impressions), Uncorked (PTI); Ink - Tuxedo Black (Memento);
Paper - La Belle Vie patterned papers; Chocolate, Smokey Plum cardstock (CTMH);
Markers - 679, 969, 076, 177 (Tombow); Embossing folder - Diamond (CTMH);
Embossing Powder - Princess Gold (CTMH); Ribbon - Jute (CTMH).

Going Dotty

When I saw this sketch from Viva la Verve I knew I had to play along with it! I really need to get myself a set of the stitched dies, but for now I added my own "stitching" to a watercolour scene. I am learning to keep these cards simple...but need to work on learning how to do a sky/background! I am linking up to the "we're going dotty" challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and am actually able to showcase an Art Impressions product - yay!
Paper - Kraft (CTMH); Ink - Tuxedo Black (Memento);
Stamp - Steeple TF Set (Art Impressions);
 Markers - 373, 451, N95, N65, 076, 177 (Tombow);
Embellishments - Gold Polka-Dot washi tape (CTMH).
