Birthdays Are Cozy

Here is another card I made this weekend with some of my Ai goodies using the awesome sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch. I decided to experiment with a new technique to join up with the Art Impressions gallery. This time I played around with embossing first, then stamping over top using my Tombow marker ink and then using a water brush to give it a watercolour effect. It was tricky not to have the tree colour bleed into the background colour! I chose to make it into a birthday card to link up with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge as well.
Paper - Distressed Watercolour paper (Tim Holtz); Black, Slate cardstock (CTMH);
Stamps - WC Tree Set (Art Impressions); Birthday Classics: January (PTI);
Dies & Embossing Folders - Wonky Stitched Squares (MFT); Argyle (Cuttlebug);
Embellishments - Matte white gumdrops (YNS); Markers - N65, 451, 969.
I got an exciting package in the mail the other week from Art Impressions - thanks Auntie Karen! I have a few Ai watercolour sets now and enjoy trying my hand at following the beautiful inspiration examples that are on the front of each set. This time I thought I would try out making the Old Barn Mini Set into a snowy scene. I love the result and am looking forward to using this set again! I used Tombow markers and tried out some new Marvy markers as well. I am linking up with the "card resolution" challenge over at the Art Impressions blog because I resolve to do more watercolour this year! I am also linking up to the "season of white" challenge over at Heart2Heart.

Paper - Distressed Watercolour paper (Tim Holtz);
Chocolate, White Sparkle cardstock; Wonderland patterned papers (CTMH);
Stamps - Old Barn Mini Set (Ai); Dies - Snowflakes (CTMH); Stitched Rectangles (MFT);
Embellishments - Matte Gumdrops (YNS); Markers - N65, 451, 515, 969 (Tombow); 18, 29 (Marvey).

Snow Angels

Ok, so I changed my mind and decided to make my husband this card for his birthday! I had some sequins leftover from my new Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit so I set out to make a shaker card inspired by some of the designs included in the kit. I haven't made a shaker card myself before, only at a class and it was years ago! I am pretty stoked with how it turned out and wanted to link up with the "New Something" challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
Paper - Custom Papers (Authentique); Cornflower, Cream cardstock; Blue Gray parchment paper (SSS);
Stamps - Frozen Fractals (SSS); Ink - Outdoor Denim (CTMH);
Dies - Stitched Circles (SSS); Embellishments - Snowflake Sequins (SSS).

Snow Much Thanks

I got my January Card Kit in the mail recently from Simon Says Stamp and am loving playing around with my new supplies. I needed to make several thank you cards to give to my students so I set out to create something winter themed. I am linking up with the "anything goes" challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
Paper - Plaid Patterns Merry & Bright (MFT); other patterned papers (Authentique); Blue parchment paper (SSS);
Ink - White Shimmer (Delicata) Indian Corn Blue (CTMH); Stamps - Frozen Fractals (SSS);
Dies - Wonky Stitched Squares (MFT); Embellishments - Frozen Fractals sequins (SSS).

Here are some more using the papers from the kit:

I was able to make 15 cards in total!
